Founded with a passion for supporting both families and caregivers, SWLA Sitters was created to bridge the gap between parents seeking reliable childcare and sitters who are experienced, trustworthy, and genuinely love working with children. What began as a local babysitting solution in Southwest Louisiana has grown into a trusted childcare connection serving families throughout the state.

Today, SWLA Sitters proudly serves families across Louisiana, including Lake Charles, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Shreveport, Monroe, and surrounding areas. As we’ve grown, our mission has remained the same: to make finding safe, reliable childcare simple and stress-free for families wherever they are.
Meet the Founder
SWLA Sitters was founded by Gabriela Durrett, a childcare professional, mother, and advocate for safe, reliable care. Gabriela’s passion for childcare began early, with years of hands-on experience caring for children of all ages in both home and professional settings.
As a parent herself, Gabriela understands firsthand how challenging it can be to find trustworthy childcare — whether for a date night, work obligations, or last-minute needs. After seeing families struggle to secure reliable sitters they could truly trust, she recognized a need for a service that prioritized safety, communication, and consistency.
SWLA Sitters was created to provide families with peace of mind, knowing their children are cared for by sitters who are dependable, vetted, and genuinely invested in the well-being of every child they serve. Gabriela is deeply involved in the selection and standards of SWLA Sitters’ caregivers, ensuring that every sitter reflects the values of compassion, professionalism, and reliability that the company was built on.
Our Caregivers
Our sitters are carefully selected and bring experience caring for children of all ages, from infants to school-aged children. Many have backgrounds in education, childcare, healthcare, or related fields. All sitters are required to meet strict standards, including background checks and CPR/First Aid certification, to ensure families feel confident welcoming them into their homes.
